Public transport and Covid-19 restrictions
From 1 December 2020, Government advice is to avoid using public transport, unless you are travelling for essential purposes, which includes work, food and medical purposes. This is to support public health and also to help the transport companies to provide space for those who need to travel, including essential frontline workers. Each service is restricted to carrying only 50% of the people who it has space. for.
It is possible that the restriction level will be changed again before New Year - this page will be updated if this happens.
Pre-booking is required on all inter-city trains between 18 December - 6 January. However seats will be unassigned. Read more ...
Thursday 24 December
City Buses
- Bus Éireann will run a regular Thursday service in Cork City - except that buses due to depart after 9pm will not not run
Regional buses
- Bus Eireann will run regular weekday services until approx 9pm.
- Cobh Connect - will run regular weekday services until the last bus from Cork at 6:45pm
- CityLink: Normal services
- Dublin Coach - last bus to Cork at 8pm
- GoBus: Limited services until the last bus from Cork at 2pm, last bus from Dublin Airport at 6pm and Dublin City at 6:30pm.
Trains

Friday 25 December - Christmas Day
- Some taxi companies will offer a limited service - but many will be closed.
- All other services - trains and city and regional buses - are cancelled.
Saturday 26 December - St Steven's Day
City Buses
- Bus Eireann will run a regular Sunday service on all routes in Cork City - but with no services before 9am
Regional buses:
- Bus Eireann - regular Sunday timetable, with a few cancellations - check their website.
- Cobh Connect - regular service until the last bus from Cork at 8:45pm
- CityLink: normal service
- Dublin Coach - normal service
- GoBus - no service

- No trains will run
